Even a static HTML website can become JAMstack by Hosting them on CDN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why use JAMstack?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By following JAMstack principles you can build website that load faster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Files are pre-built at the time deployment.<\/li><li>Pre-built files are served on CDN, reducing time to the first byte significantly<\/li><li>As your entire site is served on CDN, Scaling becomes cheaper and easier.<\/li><li>Most security concerns are things of the past as the server-side rendering is reduced. Now the website or app only uses APIs. <\/li><li>As the website or app split into multiple parts. It becomes easier for developers to maintain, debug and improve upon.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to get familiar with the following parts of Static site generation, Data and CDN Hosting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1320\" height=\"1018\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1320x1018.png\" alt=\"How GatsbyJS works based on JAMstack principles\" class=\"wp-image-40161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1320x1018.png 1320w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-600x463.png 600w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-990x764.png 990w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-386x298.png 386w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-768x593.png 768w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1536x1185.png 1536w, https:\/\/w3layouts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image.png 1628w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1320px) 100vw, 1320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Static Site Generator<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned earlier the final output of the JAMstack should be a pre-rendered HTML website or app. This you can do manually or with the help of a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.staticgen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Static Site Generator<\/a> (<strong>SSG<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the many SSG&#8217;s my favorite is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gatsbyjs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">GatsbyJS<\/a>. it is a free and open-source framework based on React that helps developers build blazing-fast <strong>websites<\/strong> and <strong>apps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GatsbyJS comes with its own plugins and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gatsbyjs.org\/starters\/?v=2\" target=\"_blank\">starter<\/a> library driven by huge community and resources, if you are familiar with basics of React also you can easily get a hang of it. Take look at this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gatsbyjs.org\/tutorial\/\" target=\"_blank\">GatsbyJS Tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">APIs or Data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This part totally depends on the kind of website or app you are building. If your website consists of a couple of pages you can simply create an HTML website, but if you need to often edit or update the content you might need a CMS or <a href=\"https:\/\/headlesscms.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Headless CMS<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the latter case, it could be data coming from a simple markdown file to more advanced CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Netlify CMS or your own server. You plug this data with GatsbyJS and render the templates. GatsbyJS has many <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gatsbyjs.org\/plugins\/\" target=\"_blank\">plugins<\/a> that may be fit for your specific use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have my recommendation for your CMS pick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Netlify CMS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.netlifycms.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Netlify CMS<\/a> is an Open source content management for your Git-based workflow. You can use it with any static site generator for a faster and more flexible web project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a single page app written in ReactJS. It works with your Git repository by saving your data as Markdown files in your project, Removing the need for maintaining any server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It gives developers full control of how you want your CMS to architected. Here is simple documentation to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.netlifycms.org\/docs\/add-to-your-site\/\" target=\"_blank\">add Netlify CMS to your website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CDN Hosting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many services available in this space, I personally like Netlify. All of this for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can host a website by simply dragging a folder of static HTML website or you can connect with GitHub repository and set up a build process to have your website deploy every time it is updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So far we have discussed all things about JAMstack and my favorite frameworks and services.
